Acupuncture Patients Have High Rates of Satisfaction
High Rates of Satisfaction in Acupuncture Patients
American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH), a company focused on providing networked specialty health services, recently released the results of a study conducted on 89,000 acupuncture patients treated from 2014 through 2015. The study revealed that patients’ levels of satisfaction with acupuncture treatment and their acupuncturists exceeded the national benchmark averages for general practitioners.
The study was conducted using the Clinician & Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CG-CAHPS) survey, designed to evaluate patients’ experiences with healthcare providers and staff to better inform consumers on physician and treatment choices, as well as to improve medical providers and sites of care. The survey revealed that 93 percent of respondents in 2014 and 2015 said that their acupuncturist was successful in treating their primary condition. The majority of patients were treated for musculoskeletal pain, both chronic and not, such as low back and neck pain. When asked to rate overall quality of treatment and services from their acupuncturists, 99 percent of patients reported good to excellent. Dr. David Miller, M.D., president of the American Society of Acupuncturists, said, “We believe these high satisfaction rates will be similar for all well-trained acupuncturists.” The survey also reported that in 2014, 96.5 percent of respondents said they would recommend their acupuncturist to others, this number increased to to 96.7 percent in 2015.

Benefits of Gainesville Acupuncture Treatments
Acupuncture is gaining popularity as a means of treating ailments and as preventative healthcare. Acupuncture has proven successful at treating various forms of acute and chronic pain, health disorders, mental illnesses and improving general well-being. As the survey above confirms, most patients receiving acupuncture are not only happy with the treatments they are receiving, but are actually experiencing results. Unlike common Western medical practices that only aim to treat symptoms once they arise, acupuncture works to determine the root of the problem and restore it to normal. This not only creates more satisfied patients but it actually offers a better quality of life where the illness or disorder isn’t just masked through medication, it is actually treated and corrected. As Dr. Miller stated, “We hope the results of this survey will help to educate consumers, healthcare providers and health policymakers about the role acupuncture and acupuncturists can play in reducing the need for higher risk and often less effective pain interventions.”
