Manual Lymphatic Drainage

What is MLD?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is the gentle manipulation of the skin to encourage natural drainage of lymph fluid to the lymph nodes or “filter stations” of the body. This practice has numerous benefits and can support the healing process for many different bodily issues.

How is MLD beneficial?

MLD is incredibly beneficial for a wide variety of symptoms and issues, including but not limited to:

  • Edema/fluid retention
  • Pre-surgery preparation
  • Post-surgery healing
  • Scar tissue management
  • Chemotherapy support (with physician recommendation)
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Nervous system disorders
  • Glaucoma
  • Dermatitis/skin issues
  • Increasing range of motion
  • Injury healing/support
  • Pain management
  • Infection prevention
  • Weight loss/cosmetic support
  • Long Covid
  • Post-partum/post-cesarean support
  • Migraines/headaches
  • Digestive disorders
  • Sinusitis
  • Inflammation

What to expect:

The first MLD session will involve an overall “draining” protocol to evaluate where lymph stagnation is occurring. Following appointments will focus more specifically on focused areas that are in need of MLD. Clients report sensations of draining, flushing, relaxation, lightheadedness, movement via the bladder and bowels, and an overall sense of well-being.
